Recommendation letters

A powerful recommendation letter should be written by a person who can give you a positive evaluation on your academic, work performance, and personal characteristics.

If you would like to ask your teachers to write you a good letter, make sure they meet the following criteria:

Who can positively evaluate your academic performance, especially the major that you are applying to
Who can evaluate your potential to succeed in postgraduate study
Who knows you well and can discuss your personalities and capabilities

To allow your teachers to write a good letter for you,

you should prepare sufficient information in advance for their reference.

Personal statement

The purpose of personal statement is to tell the admission committee about what you think. They cannot know deeply about who you are from the other application documents (such as transcript, recommendation letters) except personal statement.

To stand out from the application pool,

you should tell the admission committee in your personal statement about the reason for applying for postgraduate programme, and what interests you in that programme.

Besides, in your personal statement, you can show them your unique personality traits, such as leadership skills, motivation, communication skills. These are the key factors for getting offer from universities.

Energetic, dynamic and complicated are the three adjectives that I describe the hospitality industry. It involves challenges, changes and competitions wherever and whenever. As a student who loves to challenge my limits, I am deeply attracted by the nature of this fast-growing industry especially when I performed my internship in an international hotel group few months ago. It was my honor to be part of the Revenue Department where I learned how the strategic decision of selling rooms to the right guests helped to boost revenue.
